The Team Behind Brucewood

VFW Brucewood LLC is led by Dmitry Baskin. Dmitry holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from the University of Miami (UM). In his 25+ years in the construction and real estate development industry, Dmitry has accumulated extensive experience across the built-environment spectrum. His early career was focused in the construction industry building marque projects from luxury hi-rise buildings to complicated multi-faceted infrastructure projects. Dmitry has always been on the forefront of energy and environmental design and development with his involvement in LEED Certified hi-rise residential development in Kendall Square, Cambridge, mid-rise development in Central Square, Cambridge, award winning low-rise development in Allston and historical mill restorations in Lawrence.

Dmitry has challenged his team to bring the concepts of energy and environmental conscious design and development to the scale and appropriateness for single family homes. Brucewood Homes, in their forward-thinking Passive House design, embodies these concepts seamlessly and will certainly be the future of home building!

We have cultivated a network of driven people—employees, clients, builders, community members—who share this mission and know that working collaboratively is the best way to achieve our goals. The breadth and depth of our collective capabilities enable us to make positive change in communities across the region.

Kevin and Dmitry are a collaborative design and development team that have been working together for over ten years. Each project blends innovative design and high-quality construction, bringing solutions that are firmly planted in their place and time. They have developed a design process together through these collaborations and only take on the opportunities that are right for this approach. Their first project in Allston recently was recognized with an  award a citation from the Boston Society of Architects. They have a shared passion for creating and building inspired places to live.

OPAL was founded in 2005, as the architecture half of the groundbreaking design/build company GO Logic, and launched as an independent architecture firm in 2019. Based in Belfast, on the coast of Maine, we maintain an unwavering focus on design excellence while continually striving to achieve the highest standards of building performance and occupant comfort and well-being.

Alone among our professional peers, we design buildings exclusively following Passive House principals. We established our leadership role in the Passive House movement in North America with a string of landmark projects, including the first Passive House certified residence in Maine, the first Passive House certified college residence hall (for Unity College, in Unity, ME), and the first Passive House certified research laboratory (for the University of Chicago).
